This work was inspired by the concept of red as an accent color in interior design — a powerful yet controlled element historically used to guide the eye and create focus within a space. After exploring contemporary design theory around red accents, I wanted to translate this idea into a tactile, sculptural artwork.
The painting is created as a high-relief mixed-media piece, where organic, flowing forms rise from the surface, allowing light and shadow to interact with the texture. As lighting conditions change, the red shifts subtly in tone and depth, giving the work a dynamic and living presence.
My intention was to create an artwork that feels confident but not overpowering. It is designed to function as a refined focal point — an accent that completes an interior rather than dominates it. I hope viewers experience a sense of balance, warmth, and quiet energy, and feel drawn to observe how the surface responds to light and space.
